Avid cooks, our clients came to us with a simple wish list – more natural light, smarter storage, and connectivity between the kitchen and dining areas. Our solution reworked the floor plan to provide a window to the backyard and a much bigger expanse of counter space and cabinetry. For dining, we embraced a minimal aesthetic with a wall of custom walnut seating and storage. In smaller spaces, banquettes can expand seating and improve flow with an efficient footprint.

Sometimes interior remodels are driven by the outdoors. New pool? Let’s rethink the bathroom at the rear of the house and transform it into a pool bath! And let’s have fun with color and pattern while we’re at it. We wanted the new finishes to have a nostalgic quality and took cues from vintage quilts for the varicolored checkered pattern. Color is the star, but geometric shapes in the custom millwork, fixtures, and accessories also shine. Design revolves around the details.

This kitchen remodel paired the old and the new and retained all the charm. As our clients stated, “we wanted the kitchen to live up to its character,” and so we got to work. The kitchen very much needed a functional and aesthetic overhaul and As our clients stated, “we wanted the kitchen to live up to its character,” and so we got to work. There was no need to remove the vintage glass fronts and upper cabinetry on the sink wall. So here they are with new paint, and yet they are still wonderfully imperfect. The lower, inset cabinetry is all new, along with plumbing fixtures, flooring, and a very new addition to the space - a dishwasher.

Our Austin client wanted to remodel their home's existing kitchen to create a brighter, more functional space. The original kitchen had an awkward shape, and it was small in relation to the scale of the residence. We revised the kitchen's floor plan and completely reoriented the room, moving it out of a corner closer to a set of large windows that bring in natural light. This new footprint created a much larger kitchen, allowing room for a built-in table for family dinners and a cushioned window seat where pets enjoy lounging and taking in the sun.

Built circa 1936, this former garage apartment didn’t meet any City standards. The lot measures only 2,300 square feet, and at some point the structure had been converted into an unauthorized duplex. Creating a single family residence within the existing footprint was a challenge, especially with the City’s permitting requirement: the structure had to re-incorporate a garage. We drew inspiration from some handsome carriage houses of the past and fit the design for modern times.
